Rest
Jesus said, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while”
Mark 6:31 NRSV
If you’re a caregiver to an older parent, you know that you can’t take time for yourself whenever you’d like. If you’re a parent and your child needs you, you put off self-care for childcare. When life gets tough, do we always have to postpone our rest? No. We can bring ourselves to a deserted spiritual place where Jesus will recharge our spirit and give us spiritual renewal in the busyness of life.
Next time life gets overwhelming, stop, breathe deeply, and sense your soul within you. Let your soul speak. It will say, “All will be well.” Then, repeat to yourself, “I am a beloved child of God. My soul rests in God’s palm.” You will discover energy returning to you and the rest you need.
